Lost and Found

If you have lost anything in a common area or in the Oakwood Clubhouse area, please check at the Oakwood Concierge Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, to reclaim your item. All items not claimed by Friday, November 19th, will be donated to a local charity. Here is just a snapshot of some of the items:

Golf Carts

Please avoid the freshly poured seal coat in the areas blocked. Until the asphalt has time to cure, your golf carts will leave tracks, which may require the street to be re-sealed at an additional cost.

Golf Cart Paths

Golf cart paths are only for the use of active golfers playing a round of golf. They should not be used when traversing the community.

Street Sealing Update

Street sealing has been rescheduled in order to avoid interrupting the Thanksgiving holiday. Please note the changes in the map below if applicable to your area.

The Ironwood portion of this project is now completed. Thank you all for your participation and patience during what we understand is an inconvenience.

The Oakwood portion of this project began Wednesday, November 10th.

Why the entire street? It was necessary for us during this project to close the entire section of the road being worked on. The closure avoids mistakenly having the streets driven on when wet and the wet oil material being tracked through residents' driveways, as well as the sidewalks and gutter area of the streets. We appreciate your patience; please feel free to park in another area not being worked on. Patrol will not issue citations during this time for parking on the streets in these areas.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Communications at 480.317.3620 or via email, or Facilities at 480.317.3666.

Tips during this project:

  1. If work is being done in front of your home, park your car outside of the "work area." No citations will be issued during this time for on-street overnight parking.
  2. Streets are closed by approximately 7:00am the day of work, and re-opened first thing the following morning.
  3. Please do not block another homeowner’s driveway.
  4. This work is dusty. If possible, keep windows closed and cars parked in the garage when work is being done in your area.
  5. If an area is blocked by cones/barricades, please do not drive cars or golf carts over the fresh seal coat.
  6. Mail will not be delivered on a day if it involves the road closure area. Mail will be delivered the following day.
  7. Trash/recycling unfortunately can not be rescheduled if road work is being done and the road is blocked. Both will be picked up on the next schedule pickup day.

Comment Card Overview

There was a total of 52 comment cards. Six were positive, two were negative, and forty-four were neutral. In summary, the negative comments requested an improved menu for Trivia on Monday nights. Positives came in for Heather and the new aquatic instructor, Julio, as well as for the landscaping efforts around Finger Lakes, and for the walking path cleanup. The Patrol team received kudos for their kind and helpful service. Neutral comments were plentiful, but no theme was consistent or dominant.

If you have a comment that may apply to two areas, you only need to submit one comment. The Board is copied on all comments.

Comment cards are available online, here.

WW2 Veteran is Turning 100! | December 13th

We're celebrating Jack Holder's birthday with a golf cart parade!

Plan to decorate your golf carts and arrive at the Ironwood Clubhouse by noon on December 13th. The parade will depart at 12:30pm, passing by Jack's home.

Born in 1921, Jack served in the Navy, survived the Pearl Harbor bombing, and flew over 100 missions during WW2, including the Battle of Midway, Guadacanal, Solomon Islands, English Channel, and Bay of Biscay. For his actions in combat he earned 36 medals and commendations. Though there isn't an exact count of remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, it is estimated that fewer than 100 remain. The official death toll in Dec 7, 1941 was 2,403.

To celebrate becoming a centenarian, the Sun Lakes resident wants birthday cards from all around the world. Mail Jack a card by November 30th, so he gets it on time! You can send to:

17th Annual Luminaria Walk / Food Drive

You are cordially invited to the 17th Annual Diamond Lake Luminaria Walk and Food Drive on Saturday, December 11th, and Sunday, December 12th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm each night. That is the designated weekend that over 1,000 luminarias will be brightly shining around the edge of Diamond Lake. The backyards facing Diamond Lake will be beautifully decorated, too. The luminarias and decorations reflect off Diamond Lake, and it's a sight to behold! Dress warmly, bring a flashlight, and join us in this beautiful tradition of the holiday season.

We ask that you bring non-perishable canned goods/boxes of food to donate to our local food bank in Chandler, AZCEND. There will be donation boxes at the two main entrances to Diamond Lake. If you would like to make a monetary donation, AZCEND has set up a special link just for Diamond Lake donations. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Donations are used to buy perishable items (i.e. milk, meat, etc.) to make complete meals for Chandler families in need. FYI - all donations are tax deductible using this dedicated link. You will receive a confirmation letter from AZCEND acknowledging your donation, to use for tax purposes. Thank you for your support.

If you have any questions, please call/text Steve and Robyn Moody, Co-Chairmen. Steve can be reached at 602.751.7124. Robyn can be reached at 480.577.1869.
