Intel & SRP Paving Projects

Crews paved the base course (bottom layer) of asphalt on the new southbound turn lane at Chaparral last week, and are scheduled to pave the final course (top layer) this week, after which Chaparral Way on the west side of Dobson Road (into Intel) can be opened.

Scheduled to begin the week of November 6th, pedestrian access will be restricted on the east side of Dobson Road at Chaparral Way as crews construct concrete corner ramps, aprons, and valley gutters on the east side of the intersection. This work will also include installation of new traffic signal poles and associated paving near the work area. Northbound and southbound Dobson Road traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the Dobson Road/Chaparral Way intersection will be temporarily converted to a 4-way stop while traffic signal removal and replacement is taking place.

Work at the Dobson Road / Chaparral Way intersection is expected to be complete in mid-December. Thank you for your continued patience during this work.

Arizona Humane Society’s Pet of the Week

This week, we have a special kitty named Farquaad who is looking for a loving family!

Farquaad is looking for a new kingdom to rule over! Although he shares a name with Shrek’s famous nemesis, this lovable brown tabby cat is more likely to be cast as a hero than a villain. Farquaad was rescued from hoarding conditions earlier this summer by one of the Arizona Humane Society's Emergency Animal Medical Technicians. When his rescuers first arrived, Farquaad was understandably frightened and confused. Now, this 5-year-old kitty is adjusting to a new life at AHS and learning to trust humans again with lots of treats, ear scratches, and cuddles!  Just give him a scratch behind the ears and he will lean in for more cuddles! After getting a rough start in life, Farquaad would love to find a patient family who will give him the time he needs to adjust to his new home. His ideal home may also include another cat friend who can help boost his confidence and show him the ropes around his new home. Farquaad is waiting to meet his new family at AHS' South Mountain Campus. Learn more at azhumane.org/adopt!
