Drivers, Please Don’t Be Distracted.

Walkers, Joggers, and Bikers share the streets.

Please be cautious when driving through IronOaks. With the beautiful weather, more and more residents are out engaging in early morning activities. When driving, eyes up, phones down, and err on the side of caution.

  • Never assume a pedestrian or bicyclists sees you
  • Take care when passing another vehicle
  • 70% of bike-pedestrian fatalities occur after 6:00pm and before 6:00am. Use extra caution at these times.
  • Pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk. Both sides of traffic should stop.
  • Look before you turn.

Pedestrians and Joggers, as it is staying darker a bit longer in the morning, we recommend:

  • Wearing light colored clothing
  • Carrying a flashlight
  • Walking / jogging facing traffic when there are no sidewalks.
  • Considering reflective clothing or items you can wear to make you more visible to traffic
  • Staying close to the curb and watching your animals on leashes so they do not stray far from you
  • Do not assume drivers see you, as visibility can be hampered due to conditions such as sunrise, sunset, and blind spots.

Free Stuff

Please do not place items on the curb within the community with a "Free" sign. All items like this must be taken to a location to donate, stored appropriately until a Free Bulk Trash Pick up is scheduled, or a paid Bulk trash pickup is scheduled by the homeowner.

The next free bulk trash pickup is scheduled for November 18th.

Rats and Vermin Love Fruit

We have been getting an increase in concerns over an increase in rats and other pests. We continue to spray and trap them, but would appreciate our residents' assistance with picking up dropped fruit and not allowing bird seed to spread all over the ground. We appreciate your cooperation.

Mosquitos and West Nile Virus

We continue to be in contact with Maricopa Vector Control and have filed three reports thus far. Traps continue to be monitored by Vector Control, and fogging is done in accordance with their guidelines and findings. Internally, we are continuing our schedule of treating the bodies of water throughout IronOaks for mosquitos, to kill and prevent breeding.

In summary, positive comments came in for banquets, one for the committee appreciation lunch and the USA Dance Black tie event; a great open mic night,  and for Lannaya being a great server over at Ironwood Grill on the Green, as well as for Daria, Michelle, and Gunnar. Negative reviews were heard about the pool upkeep at the main pool, including some cleaning issues and outlet safety. Golf had a question come in regarding high school golf teams and the priority given to them.  Lighting issues on the tennis courts are being addressed this winter, including all new hoods and LED lights for all the courts. Neutral comments were dominated by landscaping and the golf course’s landscaping. Menu requests are being heard, and a new menu is expected very soon.

If you have a comment that may apply to two areas, you only need to submit one comment. The Board is copied on all comments.

WW2 Veteran is Turning 100! | December 13th

We're celebrating Jack Holder's birthday with a golf cart parade!

Plan to decorate your golf carts and arrive at the Ironwood Clubhouse by noon on December 13th. The parade will depart at 12:30pm, passing by Jack's home.

Born in 1921, Jack served in the Navy, survived the Pearl Harbor bombing, and flew over 100 missions during WW2, including the Battle of Midway, Guadacanal, Solomon Islands, English Channel, and Bay of Biscay. For his actions in combat he earned 36 medals and commendations. Though there isn't an exact count of remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, it is estimated that fewer than 100 remain. The official death toll in Dec 7, 1941 was 2,403.

To celebrate becoming a centenarian, the Sun Lakes resident wants birthday cards from all around the world. Mail Jack a card by November 30th, so he gets it on time! You can send to:
