Java with John

Have you voted? John wants everyone to get out and vote for the FACE Fund and support future amenities for IronOaks.

Watch now!

Time to VOTE

Did you know that portions of IronOaks are over 25 years old? There comes a time when what was sufficient 25 years ago needs a facelift, or maybe an entirely new look.

The vote in front of the community supports improving IronOaks facilities by increasing the amount an incoming new resident would pay at the time of closing.

Unit 44 Homeowners

Are you receiving emails from your Unit Captain? We've had many newbies move in who are not receiving communication from their Unit Captain (who acts as a Liaison between homeowners and the homeowner association). The Unit Captains meet monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month. We meet in the Ballroom at 3:45pm, and homeowners are invited to attend. If you live in Unit 44 and are not receiving emails from Unit Captain Becky Kolb, please contact her at 480.440.0849.

Other Units

If you haven’t heard from your Unit Captain, please let one of the committee chairs know. Send your name and address to [email protected] or [email protected].

Meeting Space Requests by Committees, Sub-Committees, Task Forces, and Community Groups

If you are currently meeting in any of the meeting space within the Oakwood Clubhouse, we are requesting you submit this form (PDF) to confirm your space. Due to the popularity and need for meeting space, we find it necessary to review all standing reservations. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

Stray Cats

We have been hearing reports of stray cats. After some research, we've learned that trapping them is inefficient and costly. Talking to experts, we've learned that cats will stay in an area if provided a source of food; this includes bird feeders and either human or cat food. We are asking residents to stop providing a food source for these strays.

The Arizona Corporate Commission and Area Codes

Area codes 480, 520, and 928 should begin dialing area codes with the phone numbers beginning this weekend before the transition is permanent starting October 24th. Calls made after that date that do not include area codes may not go through, officials said.

Coffee Talks with Board Members

Another successful event was held on Tuesday, October 12th, in the Library. Two more potential Board candidates came to learn what it entails to be a member of the IronOaks Board. If you are considering running for one of the three Board positions available in March 2022, join the Elections committee for one of these informative chats. Next sessions are:

  • October 26th at 10:00am in the Library
  • November 16th at 10:00am on the Stone & Barrel patio
  • December 10th at 10:00am in the Library

RSVP for the October 26th event via email.

Clean and Crack Seal

Cleaning and crack sealing is a process to clean debris out of the street cracks and to seal them, preventing expansion of the crack. Streets will not be closed during this process, and the material used to seal the cracks becomes dry and able to be driven on within seconds.

The following units throughout the community will be sealed in the timeframes shown:

  • Units 38 and 39 | October 14th - 19th (Orange on the map below)
  • Units 40 and 40A | October 20th (Green on the map below)
  • Units 37 and 46A | October 21st - 22nd (Red on the map below)
  • Units 27, 27A, 27B, 28 and 28A | October 25th - 27th (Purple on the map below)

Check out the map! (PDF)

Please note: Timing and units may be adjusted due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. We appreciate your patience during this process. Please be cautious of the trucks and men working during this time.

Friday, November 5th, at 10:00am | Adapting to Life's Changes, with Wendall Orr

After 41 years in a wheelchair, you have a choice: feel sorry for yourself, or adapt and LIVE! Mr. Orr decided to live! Join us in the Bradford room to hear his inspirational story and have a few laughs, too. Mr. Orr will share stories of his adventures, including rafting, skiing, playing sports and even bull riding. He will share how raising a family and keeping involved with your growing children becomes a challenge with the added obstacle of a wheelchair. This inventor will show you how to make your home easy to live in, whether you're in a wheelchair or 100% able-bodied. Some great tips will be learned from this retired CIA employee who takes life on life and lives every minute to the fullest.

Shop with a Cop

The Arizona Rangers-Sun Lakes Company is stepping up this holiday season to ensure children in the surrounding Sun Lakes communities do not go without holiday gifts this season - and they're asking for our help.

The Sun Lakes Rangers will be sponsoring several underprivileged children and young adults in partnership with the non-profit organization AZLEOS (Azleos.org) to ensure they wake up with holiday smiles on their faces.

Sponsoring a child costs approximately $100, and the Sun Lakes Rangers would like to raise enough money to sponsor at least 10 children and young adults. If you are able to assist, please send your check payable to:

Arizona Rangers- Sun Lakes Company
PO Box 12090
Chandler, AZ 85248

In the information / memo line, add "Shop with a Cop."

If you know someone who is struggling, and you'd like to submit their information to participate in this program, please contact Lieutenant Roy Stanifer via email.

All donations are tax deductible.

Trash and Recycling

The recycling chart we provided last week inadvertently included glass as a recyclable item. Unfortunately this is not the case any longer. The Updated Guide below shows the current items that can be recycled.
