Java with John

Lots of things are going on in IronOaks, including trash updates, a Board of Directors position, a CC&R vote, seafood month, and more!

Watch now!

What Is This CC&R (FACE Fund) Vote?

The results of the Strategic Survey have provided a road map of the many projects and enhancements homeowners have indicated they would like to see to in our community.

IronOaks has four ways to fund these improvements:

  1. New Homeowner Assessment (FACE Fund) is paid only when you buy a home in IronOaks, at the time of closing. The vote currently in front of homeowners is asking you to consider increasing the amount a new homeowner pays at home closing. The amount being considered is twice the current HOA annual assessment. This is the present CC&R we are voting on now!*
  2. Borrowing from a bank and using FACE money to repay the loan
  3. Special Assessment to current homeowners.
  4. Increase the Annual HOA assessment to current homeowners.

*Yes, the Board can decrease this New Homeowner Special Assessment by a vote at a Board meeting. Any increase in the FACE beyond the 2 times the Board is asking for would need to go to a vote of homeowners (not Board members), and would be decided by the majority of votes cast.

The other part of the vote gives current homeowners as of 1/1/2022 a one-time exemption from paying this special assessment (if not used previously), should they decide to buy another home in IronOaks.

The vote is open now! If you did not receive your voting instructions, email [email protected].

Need a paper ballot? They are available at the Concierge desk Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

Intel Expansion and Power Line Update

SRP is working with the City of Chandler and Intel on the High-Tech Interconnect Project (HIP), a proposed transmission project that is required to provide reliable power to the recently announced $20 billion expansion of Intel’s Chandler campus. This project borders the Northwest region of our community (N. Dobson).

SRP is working with the City of Chandler to meet the city’s preference to put a significant portion of the transmission line underground, to address conflicts with existing underground utilities, and ensure technical feasibility of the underground segments. The remaining overhead segments are located within areas that already have overhead transmission facilities or are commercial in nature. The underground portion of the route was approved between SRP and the City of Chandler that allows the City to pay for the incremental cost for undergrounding the line.

The Intel expansion will require SRP to build a new 230kV substation on Intel’s campus, as well as new 230kV transmission lines connecting the campus to two existing substations.

Watch these videos to learn more about the High-Tech Interconnect Project (HIP).

SRP is hosting a live online Open House meeting tonight - Thursday, September 23rd - from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, to allow the public to provide feedback to SRP prior to their filing an application with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). To reserve your spot in tonight's Open House, click here to register to attend. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required to participate.

If you have questions about the project, please call 855.584.1484 or you may submit your questions online, here.

  2. What to do if your garbage can and recycling can look the same.
  3. Will timing remain the same?

Ironwood Courts Available on a Limited Bases During High Season

Great News! IOTC Board members presented a proposal to BlueStar and I/O HOA Board members for utilization of the Ironwood courts during prime season (October through March).

They have approved our proposal for a one-season trial basis. IOTC members will have use of the Ironwood courts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am to 10:30am and 10:30am to 12:00pm. When you're making a court reservation for any of these days on Chelsea, you will be able to select Stadium, Hard, or Ironwood courts.

Tennis Members should be able to request the Ironwood courts starting October 7th. The Tennis Center is working with Chelsea to reprogram the software to make these changes. Ironwood matches will start on October 11th.

We believe these courts will be highly utilized from October 11th through March 31st. Since these courts are being granted on a trial basis, utilization statistics will be gathered. Late next spring, BlueStar management will be analyzing the utilization to determine if it warrants a permanent change.

Fitness Hours Extended

Comment Card Overview

We had a total of thirty-eight comment cards: three were positive, two were negative, and thirty-three were neutral.

In summary, many comments came in regarding the CC&R vote and trash. Positives included kudos to the golf course team for cleaning up the island on the Lakes course, and Tori received a positive nod for great service. The negative comments were for the email that went out regarding the CC&R vote from an anonymous source which was untraceable, and a comment regarding the soups. The person would prefer a different selection with less salt needed.

If you have a landscaping request or comment, please feel free to fill out a comment card, here.
