Reimagining an IronOaks Fitness/Wellness Center with YOU in Mind

The Oakwood golf patio and Poolside interior renovation planning are well underway under the Master Plan. This article is the first in a series of three articles that will explore topics related to the next initiative to reimagine the IronOaks Fitness/Wellness Center.

Wellness as a Way of Life | Part 2

Our Fitness Center is approaching 30 years old, and it's showing its age. In past years, recurring issues with building infrastructure have resulted in urgent repairs and temporary building closures. Even with the expensive repairs, the Fitness Center continues to suffer from lack of space and functionality.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is a trusted resource in the fitness industry. Read this article and see the Guideline comparison of how the IronOaks Fitness/Wellness Center stacks up. The chart shown in the article compares ACSM guidelines for fitness center space requirements to the IronOaks Fitness/Wellness Center.

Fitness and Wellness Center Refresh and Closure, September 5th

New rubber flooring, new lobby/hallway flooring, painting, refinishing of the studio fitness room floors, as well as a few other projects are planned. To refresh the building, we will need to remove all wall items, furniture, equipment, and loose items from the building. All items will be placed on the outside west patio for temporary storage while the interior gets a new look. During this time, the Fitness Center lobby, weight room, and group fitness studio will be CLOSED, beginning September 5th.

To keep some programs going, the Fitness Lap Pool will be open. We will also have AQUA classes at the Fitness Pool. To access these classes, Members will need to pre-register and then enter through the outside gate on the west side of the building. Locker rooms will also be accessible for restroom use; the interior doors will be closed.

We know a closure of any amenity is inconvenient. The improvements to the space are long overdue, and moving forward will create a positive fitness and wellness space for all Members to enjoy and keep fit.

San Tan Animal Rescue Needs Your Help

This rescue, also known as STAR, is a 501 (C)3 nonprofit charity. They are a no-kill organization whose mission is to rescue animals that have been abandoned, neglected, or otherwise placed in harm's way. They provide temporary housing for adoptable pets and promote and encourage responsible care including spaying, neutering, microchipping, and vaccinating before the pet goes to its new home. All pets are fostered in private homes. Check out their “wish list," shop, and bring items to the Oakwood Clubhouse Lobby.  There is a wooden chest with signage to place your items in. Arizona Humane Society’s Pet of the Week: Bagel

If you’re on the lookout for the perfect snuggle buddy, look no further! This incredibly sweet five-month-old Beagle named "Bagel" has a heart of gold and likes nothing more than to cuddle up with caretakers for as long as possible. Bagel came into our care at the Arizona Humane Society as an injured stray in need of medical attention, so not much is known about his past. But what we do know is that despite his young age, he’s got the calmness and demeanor of a much more mature dog. Maybe that explains why he seems to ready to settle down in his forever home with somebody who will love him the way all pets deserve to be loved. Bagel would do best in a home where he can be the only pet, as he seems to know that’s the best way to get attention. If you think you might be the person lucky enough to adopt Bagel, please pay him a visit at our South Mountain campus. He would absolutely love to meet you!
