COMMUNITY UPDATES

Be Aware, When Calling 9-1-1: "Silent Hold"

If you have an emergency and dial 911, you may be put on a “silent hold." A silent hold is one with no music and no message indicating you are on hold. Recently one of our residents had a medical emergency with her husband. She immediately grabbed her phone and called 911. She expected an operator, but was surprised to be greeted with a policy statement about emergencies.  She then had to listen to the same message in Spanish. After a few minutes, she was put on hold with nothing but silence. Long story short, this situation ends well, but we may all not be so lucky. She called the Maricopa Sheriff’s office to inquire about what happened to her. Here’s what the Commander shared:

  1. They are extremely short staffed. Depending on the call volume, you may not always get a person when calling.
  2. Once you listen to the messages, you will be put in a que. You will move up in the line as the operator handles other calls. NOTE: Do not hang up! You will lose your place in the hold, and if you call back, you are further back in the line of callers.
  3. You will be asked your address multiple times.  With landlines increasingly non-existent, the operator cannot tell your location.  Be prepared with your address.
  4. Stay calm and be clear with the agent while describing the condition of the person in trouble.

Please be prepared and remain calm. We know seeing someone you love in a medical emergency can be scary.

Golfers Running Stop Sign

We have been notified of a few close calls with golfers. There is a stop sign on the sidewalk running along Alma School at the Halley Gate area. Please stop, and don’t try to beat a car through that portion of the drive. Thank you!

Wildlife In The IronOaks Area

A variety of wildlife are residents of our community and surrounding areas. The best thing we can do is not provide an environment where they are comfortable. Do not leave food or water outside for them. Do not provide convenient shelter such as overgrown bushes for them to hide in. Stay close to your pets when taking them out at night and in the early morning. Do not approach a wild animal if you see it.

With our community sharing habitat with them, you are likely to eventually encounter some type of wild animal. Remain calm and enjoy them from a distance.

Oakwood Clubhouse Wi-Fi

Is your phone, laptop, or tablet moving slow? Check out our improved WiFi at the Oakwood Clubhouse!

  1. Go to your settings.
  2. Go to Wi-Fi, then look for "Oakwood-Guest"
  3. When prompted for a password, type in ironoaks (all lowercase)

Walkers

Please remember to walk facing oncoming traffic. This gives you a better opportunity to react should someone not see you in the road.

Be a good neighbor and keep your trees and bushes trimmed. If hanging over onto your neighbor’s property, they have the right to trim the tree and bush.

Age Verification Request Form | Deadline To Respond is April 15th

In order to maintain our tax status associated with being a 55+ community, we must verify our residents' average age. The 80/20 rule says 80% of our homeowners must be 55 years of age or older to maintain preferential tax status.

If you have not yet filled out your age verification form, you can now find this form on IronOaksAZ.com

After you log in, go to "HOA" at the top of the page. Look for "Departments and Forms."  Once on that page, look for "ALD." Here you will see all the forms available. "Age Verification" is on the list. Once filled out, click “Submit,” and you are done. The form will be delivered via email to Veronica Semey.

Questions?  Please feel free to call Veronica at 480.317.3601

Thank you to everyone who has completed it so far!
