COMMUNITY UPDATES

Golf Course is ONLY for Golf

While the weather is beautiful and the green grass of the golf course is tempting, especially if you live in one of the homes on the course, please remember that walking, jogging, or biking on the course, with or without your pet, is NEVER allowed.

Golf balls travel at speeds that can exceed 100 mph. Golf cart paths are in-bounds for golfers, and it is likely that a ball could be hit in the area. Also, chemicals used on the course could be harmful, so unless you are a paying player, please stay off the courses at all times.

Notifications (aka Flyers)

Flyers for lost pets, sales, or any other notifications are NOT allowed to be posted on the swing gates, equipment, guard gates, etc. The only location these can be posted is on the Community Board in the Oakwood Clubhouse.

IronOaks Hosts Phoenix ER Hospital COVID-19 Vaccination Event

The Phoenix ER Hospital vaccination clinic was a great success yesterday. The atmosphere was upbeat, and everyone was so appreciative of the Phoenix ER team. Thank you to Chase Westen, Sandra Scott, Chelsea Mallinson, Nick, Felicia, Tasa, and the entire team.

Over 400 residents and their relatives, BlueStar employees, and Sun Lakes residents attended. With the increased availability of vaccines and appointments, we believe most of our residents have now received the vaccine.

  • Residents who attended our first event on March 4th are scheduled to receive their second shot at the Oakwood Clubhouse on April 1st.
  • Second doses for this most recent round of shots have been scheduled for April 21st.  These will also be given in the Ballroom at the Oakwood Clubhouse.

If you still need to be vaccinated, please click here (PDF) for general directions and vaccination location links.

If you need assistance getting an appointment and/or understanding the various options, please click on a name below to email them. Provide your name, address, phone number, and birth date. They will coordinate to have whoever is available return your call as soon as their schedule allows.

Corona Angels

We want to send a huge THANK YOU out to our group of “Corona Angels”: Candy Clark, Judy Gahide, Kathy Callison, Molly Bergesen, Bobbie Rubin, and Terry Craig. This team of our very own residents is small but mighty. Their assistance made it possible for hundreds of our residents throughout Sun Lakes to get vaccinated.

They came together for a quick picture, with masks removed briefly. Everyone shown in the picture has received their vaccinations!

Pictured left to right are Candy Clark, Judy Gahide, Kathy Callison, and Molly Bergesen. John Reyhons, General Manager, and Michele Renahan, Director of Communications, flank the team.  Not pictured, but integral to the group, are Bobbie Rubin and Terry Craig, who had previous commitments.

Comment Card Overview

We had a total of 23 comment cards this week: 4 positive, 1 negative, and 18 neutral. Positives included comments for Grill on the Green. They really liked Kristy Dee, the new singer, and it was nice to see people waiting for a table and enjoying the music. The rack of lamb was also a big hit. A negative comment came in regarding smokers on the patio at Grill on the Green. More signage is being added to the area. Neutral comments continue to request in-person Board Meetings, and the remaining comments were random with no common theme.

As a reminder, each comment card is sent to the appropriate department, General Manager, and the Board. The submissions are reviewed and responded to by the department head and, occasionally, the General Manager. An individual from the Board will not respond to comments. They track these for discussion items for their Board Workshop.

Thank You from the Food & Beverage Team!

The entire Food & Beverage Team would like to thank all of our residents. You have supported them by dining in our restaurants and taking food out via our curbside service. Your patronage and generous gratuities make a difference in the lives of our servers, hostess, and support team members.
