This committee develops and enforces standards to ensure that homes and buildings are maintained and are kept to community standards, and monitors homeowner compliance within the Association's ALC Guidelines pertaining to homes and properties. The ALC Committee is made up of Homeowners who have building, design, and architectural backgrounds, and are able to read blueprints and landscape designs.

An Important Message from your Buildings and Grounds Committee

The Buildings and Grounds Committee would like to remind our residents what NOT to flush down their toilets or the toilets available throughout the community. Such items can easily cause blockage in our waste disposal system, which would likely cost thousands of dollars to clear. Also, disposal of medications could come back to haunt us because our wastewater is processed and then brought back to us as non-potable/recycled water for our golf courses.  Thank you for your help.

Please refrain from flushing the following items:

  • Flushable Wipes | The name "flushable" is deceiving, but in reality they take a long time to break down and can clog pipes. Keep a lined garbage can nearby instead.
  • Rags | According to the Pima Superintendent, rags are one of the biggest culprits of clogs. Re-wash, re-use, and as a last resort, dispose of rags in the garbage.
  • Paper Towels, Tissues, Large Amounts of Toilet Paper | Swap toilet paper for an easy to install bidet attachment for your toilet.
  • Cotton Balls, Swabs, or Squares | These do not break down quickly and can clog pipes and cause breaks in pipes.
  • Dental Floss, Bandages, and Hair | These also do not break down.
  • Cigarettes | Cigarettes expand when exposed to water.
  • Feminine products | These are a common cause of clogs.
  • Medications | Flushed medications cause water pollution. Old medications should be turned in at a collection site.
  • Oils & Grease | Over time, grease and oils become hard like cement and can clog and break pipes.
  • Kitty Litter | This can release parasites into the water and contaminate the water supply. It also absorbs water and can block the pipes.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

COVID-19 Vaccine Update:

We are still hoping to bring a vaccination clinic to our residents.

If you are still in need of a vaccination, please contact your Unit Captain. Send them a quick email with the first and last names of those needing the vaccine, as well as address, email, phone number, and birth date. If you have already been contacted and have replied to your Unit Captain, no further action is required. Unit captain information by unit can be found on our website after logging in.

While we investigate options, we are asking you to continue to pursue vaccination appointments as well.

Friendly Reminder

Spring's weather brings a higher chance of seeing rodent activity around the community. The most frequently asked question of management is, “how do I prevent activity on my property?”

Here are some ways to prevent rodent activity on your property:

  • Citrus is a source of food and water for rodents, so pick fruit - even if it’s not ripe - and pick up any that falls to the ground.
  • Do not leave bags of fruit on the walking trail. While a nice gesture for your neighbors, it's also a buffet for rodents.
  • Prune fruit trees so the ground under them is visible.
  • Don’t leave pet food out overnight, and pick up dog feces.
  • Thin out bushes so you can see daylight through them. Rodents like to nest in oleanders in the summer.
  • Keep garbage containers tightly covered.

These are just a few of the ways to prevent rodent activity on your property. For more information, click here. (PDF)

Comment Card Overview

We had a total of 29 comment cards this week: 7 positive, 1 negative, and 21 neutral. Positives included comments on the new signage at the Champagne entrance for residents only. Communications received feedback that the comment card process is working well. Dianne and Mary in Fitness also received very positive comments! Neutral comments continue to be made on paint colors and desiring additional options. One negative comment came in regarding card play only being allowed at the Poolside building.

As a reminder, each comment card is sent to the appropriate department, General Manager, and the Board. The submissions are reviewed and responded to by the department head and, occasionally, the General Manager. An individual from the Board will not respond to comments. They track these for discussion items for their Board Workshop.
