Honor This Year’s Crystal Awards Recipients at the March 12th Banquet

Congratulations to this year’s recipients:

  • IronOaks: David Anciaux, Paula Ferguson, Becky Kolb, Ramon Omar Rubio
  • Cottonwood/Palo Verde: Gloria Combs, Gay Zawatski
  • Sun Lakes Country Club: Sheryl Marr, Phyllis Swanson

These recipients have given thousands of hours of service to various organizations such as Sun Lakes Posse, Neighbors Who Care, HOA boards and committees, golf leagues, Rotary, Lions Club, and others that make Sun Lakes a better place to live.

Tickets for this year’s gala banquet will go on sale January 30th at the Oakwood Concierge Desk. The price is $30 per person (inclusive of tax and tip); cash or checks only, please. Everyone is invited to attend to show our appreciation for the dedication of these volunteers.

Shoe Drive a Huge Success

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Shoe Drive! Shoes will be up-cycled rather than heading to the landfill, and San Tan Junior High school is well on their way to paying for their sun shades.

New Year’s Eve Photos

If you haven’t picked up your photo yet, you can check with the Oakwood Concierge.  They have all of the remaining photos.

Community Services Kind Reminders

Fruit Trees
For those of us with fruit trees, now is the time the fruit starts dropping! Please kindly pick up fruit debris from the ground in your yards. This will prevent rodents from being attracted to the free food. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the community clean.

Tree Trimming Schedule | January 16th
Tree trimming will continue on the Loop. Once that's completed, they will start trimming trees in Unit 46. Trees will be trimmed every other week until they're complete.

Landscaping Schedule | January 16th
Regular maintenance will finish around S Price Lake. They will then move to the walking path from Unit 35.

Buildings and Grounds Traffic Test

In the Traffic Study, one of the areas of concern was the Oakwood Clubhouse traffic pattern, the amount of traffic and the speed of that traffic. Soon, homeowners will notice an area East of the Clubhouse roundabout closed. This will detour golf carts and automobiles to turn right and circle the roundabout to exit the Clubhouse parking lot, and those crossing over to turn right before turning left. This is a test to see if safety improves. Please see the map below, and be sure to watch this week’s Java with John at the end of this eNewsletter for more information!

Stone & Barrel | We Saved You A Seat

Our homeowners are our priority, and we want to make sure you always have a seat at the table at Stone & Barrel. If you plan on joining us - during peak times, or even when it's slow - give us a quick call a couple of days ahead of time. This helps us during the slow times to schedule staff efficiently, and during peak times, you have a better chance of getting a table. Remember, while Grill on the Green is closed for remodel, we are even busier than normal during those peak times of 5:00pm-6:00pm. The sooner you make a reservation, the better.

Give us a call at 480.317.3605 or make your reservation here.

    Watch now!

    Pet of the Week!

Have you met Percy? We’re pretty sure you’d remember this four-year-old Chihuahua if you had, because he’s quite a memorable little guy.

Percy was brought into our care by a Good Samaritan who discovered him as an injured stray. Percy was provided all the attention he needed in our trauma hospital and is now looking forward to meeting his forever family. Because he was a stray, there isn’t much we know about his past, but are incredibly optimistic for his future. Percy is young in age but an old man at heart. He’s much more likely to be found snuggled up with his owner watching Netflix than anything else. Maybe you and him can finally get around to watching that popular series you’ve been putting off!

Percy is available for adoption today at the Petsmart at Old Town Scottsdale. Come in and pay him a visit! You'll both be glad you did!

The AZ Humane Society will be at the Oakwood Clubhouse today - Thursday, January 12th - with some great pets up for adoption. Stop by between 10:00am and 2:00pm, meet your new best friend, donate, or just get some snuggles from a fur baby.
