Oakwood Pools

Work continues on the decking. We anticipate this work being completed by Saturday and the pools re-opening on Tuesday, January 10th, once the chemicals are balanced, furniture can be placed, and water temperatures are appropriate.

Halley Pool deck work will be completed and pool will re-open on Sunday, January 8th.

Community Services Office

The Community Services Office will be closed on Wednesday, January 11th, after 2:00pm. We will be holding a staff meeting. Thank you for your understanding.

Athletic Shoe Donations | Saturday, January 7th, 7:30am - 10:30am

IronOaks is working with San Tan Junior High School to collect athletic shoes in any condition. This supports the junior high's efforts to raise money to buy sunshades for the school's lunch tables as kids eat outside in the heat and rain. Collection bins are in the Oakwood Clubhouse. The company pays the school .25-$7 per pair of shoes and keeps the shoes from going to the landfill.

Collections will be taken from 7:30am-10:30am at the Oakwood Clubhouse circular drive.

Crystal Card Sale | Wednesday, January 11th, 9:00am - 2:00pm

The Crystal Card Project will be selling cards in the Bradford Room at the Oakwood Clubhouse on Wednesday, January 11th, from 9:00am-2:00pm. There will be a nice selection of Valentine’s Day cards as well as the general assortment of greeting cards.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of Sun Lakes residents, the Crystal Card Project has now donated in excess of $75,000!  A truly amazing accomplishment considering all cards are STILL just $1. Money generated by the project is donated to My Sister's Place, a local domestic violence crisis center for women and their children.

New Year’s Eve Photos

If you had your photo taken in the Bradford Room prior to the New Year’s Eve party, your photo will be available in the Oakwood Clubhouse Lobby beginning Friday, January 6th. A table will be set up. Find your photo and take your photo with our compliments.  Thank you to everyone for coming by and taking some great photos.

Buildings and Grounds Traffic Test

In the Traffic Study, one of the areas of concern was the Oakwood Clubhouse traffic pattern, the amount of traffic and the speed of that traffic. Soon, homeowners will notice an area East of the Clubhouse roundabout closed. This will detour golf carts and automobiles to turn right and circle the roundabout to exit the Clubhouse parking lot, and those crossing over to turn right before turning left. This is a test to see if safety improves. Please see map below.

Cox Communication Updates

Work continues mostly in the Ironwood side of the community.  There are plans to send street sweepers in within the next couple of weeks.  Cox is also looking to send in street pressure washing to clean up the markings found on many of the streets. This may take a little while, as some residents are still signing up and the various services need to be marked.

Here are the utilities and their colored marking indicators:

  • Red: Electric Power lines, Cables, Conduit, and Lighting Cables
  • Yellow: Gas, Oil, Petroleum, or Gaseous materials
  • Orange: Communication, Cable TV, Alarm or Signal Lines
  • Blue: Potable Water
  • Green: Sewers and Drain lines
  • Purple: Reclaimed, Irrigation, and Slurry lines
  • Pink: Temporary Survey Markings
  • White: Proposed excavation

Pet Of The Week!

This week’s Pet of the Week is Apache.

Apache is a 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix, but a "Velcro dog" may be a more accurate description of this sweet girl. She simply loves to be with her favorite humans. Once she gets to know you, she will loyally stick by your side like Velcro. Apache was returned to the Arizona Humane Society by her previous adopter after they said she cried when they left the house. She would thrive in a family that can spend a lot of time with her and give her the love and attention she craves. She loves to run and play with her human friends. Another social dog may also help to make her feel less lonely when she is left at home alone. She has done well with other dogs in the past, but a slow introduction is always best. Apache is waiting to meet a loving family at AHS' South Mountain Campus.

Learn more about Apache and make an appointment to meet her here.

Get Ready to See More Cute Pets! | Thursday, January 12th, 10:00am - 1:00pm

IronOaks will hold its first pet adoption event since Covid!

The Arizona Humane Society will be bringing some of their animals up for adoption. If you aren’t prepared to adopt, but can donate, the shelter is looking for blankets, towels, cat or dog toys, dog/cat beds, and paper towels. They also accept monetary donations made out to the Arizona Humane Society.
